What is Slam Poetry?

YOUR voice. YOUR words. YOUR story. A poetry slam is (usually) a live spoken word competition – but this year, we’re taking it online!

You have the chance to create a professional video clip of your spoken-word piece, or film yourself. Whatever it looks like, poetry slam is all about speaking up for what matters to YOU.

If you can rant, that’s poetry. If you can tell us what you think in 3 minutes or less, you need to enter the Youth Poetry Slam!

Check out the finalists in the Melbourne OutLoud EcoSlam for a taste of what you can achieve.

“Poetry has created a new way for me
to share my voice in a style I feel I
can be listened to.”
