Poets Out Loud presents the Murwillumbah heat of the Australian Poetry Slam! Featuring former APS Champion Arielle Cottingham.

Open to anyone residing in the Northern Rivers region, this is your chance to win big. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a first-time performer or a spoken word aficionado – just be ready to give a breathtaking performance!

Performing writers are given a microphone, a supportive audience, and just two minutes to capture the crowd. This heat will be held online via zoom, but don’t let that faze you – even the most hardened technophobes are embracing the online poetry experience!

Tickets

This event is offered as pay-what-you-can. We suggest $10, or what you would usually pay for a night of live entertainment. Proceeds support our feature poets. A link to the online event will be sent to you via email.

Are you the next Australian Poetry Slam Champion?

  • The first 18 poets to register will have two minutes to perform their original work; no props, no costumes, no music.
  • Two wildcard poets will be chosen from the waiting list.
  • Judges are randomly chosen from the online audience.
  • The two highest scoring poets will go on to represent Murwillumbah in the APS NSW Final.

In the interests of maintaining fairness, poets must perform in their local heat to be eligible. To be eligible to perform in the Murwillumbah you must reside in the Northern Rivers Catchment area from Grafton in the south, west to Kyogle and North to Tweed Heads. Poets who read at the Byron heat are not eligible to read at the Murwillumbah heat.

Book your ticket now to attend the virtual event, or sign up to enter the slam.

This event is proudly sponsored by PowerMind leadership coaching.
