Welcome back to another year of fabulous poetry! We’re kicking off 2021 with a feature from local word-master Otto De Pele, plus YOU on the open mic.

Otto started his fascination with words at an early age, enjoying tongue twisters, hip hop and freestyle rapping as a child. It continued on into various forms, from writing poetry to spoken expression. Blending lyrical and rhythmic transgressions, his work ranges from exploring the ineffable to reflections on the mundane, self and life. He has performed in a few state finals of the Australian Poetry Slam, taken part in the Nimbin Poetry World Cup and participated in overseas shows such as One World collective in Hanoi and Jai Thep Festival in Thailand.

Bring your poem for the open mic! Please keep it to one piece each and sign up at the door from 6pm. All kinds of spoken-word, storytelling, and poetry welcome.

Please note bookings are essential due to Covid restrictions. Book your table with Bacaro Murwillumbah on 0499 146 578.
Entry is by donation – we suggest $10 if you can.
