This January, Poets Out Loud is back with more of what we love: good food, good company, and crackin’ good poets.

Kicking off 2020 we have the graceful and gut-wrenching poetry of Katinka Smit. Katinka’s extraordinary performance in the 2018 Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup left us speechless and dying for more. We can’t wait to hear her first Murwillumbah performance.

Plus the stage is open for YOU to share your original word-creation. Enter the slam for your chance to WIN the $50 cash prize judged by random audience members. Or join the open mic to share your poem with our welcoming listeners. What’s the difference? A strict 2 minute time limit on the slam, and that’s it! Sign up at the door from 6pm.

ABOUT OUR FEATURE:
Katinka Smit began writing and performing poetry in Newcastle in the 90s while pursuing a career in theatre. After a long hiatus from performing, she re-emerged to place as a finalist in the 2018 Nimbin Performance Poetry Cup. Her poetry has been published in Australian anthologies and literary magazines
and she is currently compiling poems for her first collection.
