Poets Out Loud presents the SUPER SLAM!! A special event for the Murwillumbah Arts Trail weekend.

SUPER SLAM is an epic battle of the spoken-word! Come see the region’s sharpest wordsmiths battle it out live at the Regent. Each poet is given just 2 minutes and a microphone to share their most powerful poetic creations with you. The winning poet will be chosen by random audience judges, meaning YOU can play a part in selecting the Super Slam Champion! With a sensational prize package up for grabs, this is a larger-than-life poetry experience to engage, entertain, amuse and delight. Come early for a drink on the balcony and a delicious Byron Bay Pizza.

About our feature:

David Knobel is a Sunshine Coast based lawyer, writer and performance poet. He began writing and performing poetry in 2013 taking to the stage for the first time at the Woodford Folk Festival’s “Wordfood Poetry Slam”. He takes inspiration from the work of performance poets like Luka Lesson, Omar Musa, Joelle Taylor and Rudy Francisco. He was the 2018 Queensland Poetry Slam champion going on to perform at the Sydney Opera House for the Australian Poetry Slam final that year. His work has been described as “emotionally intoxicating” presenting “a wisdom and skill beyond his years”. David sees his poetry as both a political act and a personal manifesto.
