Who are we?
Poets Out Loud was established in 2019 by Sarah Temporal, a prize-winning poet from the Northern Rivers region, NSW. Founded on the belief that poetry is for everyone, we provide a safe and inclusive platform for sharing and developing creative work.
Poets Out Loud originated as an open mic night held at M-Arts precinct and later the Tweed Regional Gallery, attracting up to 120 attendees each month. We now produce a select program of performances including special events at Murwillumbah Arts Trail, new work from touring spoken-word artists, and innovative community engagement experiences.
Running since 2020, Poets Out Loud Youth Program and Youth Slam has empowered hundreds of young voices. We offer school workshops, mentoring, and a thrilling annual Slam event at Byron Writers Festival.
We’re proud to contribute to arts and culture in the Northern Rivers and beyond. Follow us for updates or check the events page to see what’s coming up.
