Friends, it’s the end of an era! Poets Out Loud will celebrate its last night at the gallery on Friday July 8th. With the cafe management changing hands at end of July, it’s time for us to move on to new pastures too!

Featuring award-winning Nimbin poet David Hallett, this is sure to be a fine farewell. We’ll also ave spoken-word from Jedda Winkworth, folk music by Stuart & Linda Gilbert, and YOU on the open mic!

Join us for one last gathering at Gallery by Bacaro to share good food, good words and good company.

If you’d like to read, please bring an original poem to share.

Ticket price: $10 door entry, food and drinks available
OR $25 including special menu meal. (vegan + gluten free options)

More about our feature poet:
Award winning Nimbin poet David Hallett has been writing and performing his poetry since the 1970s. Host of Lismore’s Live Poets for over 30 years David’s poetry traverses the spin of money, media and politics, climate chaos, love, shopping and our maddening digital world. He also presents a show titled ‘A Century of Australian Poetry’ which recently featured at the National Folk Festival.
The story…
Georgia and Luca of Bacaro have been our poetry hosts from the very beginning. Poets Out Loud started when they opened their cafe in M-Arts in 2019; and we moved with them to the Tweed Regional Gallery. They have been supporting poets the entire time Bacaro has operated in Murwillumbah!
What’s next?
Poets Out loud will continue to bring you the best diverse voices and create platforms for writers to share their work. Stay tuned as we work on the next incarnation of our poetry night.
