SLAM CAMP with Poets Out Loud

Summer writing and performance intensive for teens.

The right words in the right order can change the world.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton.

SLAM CAMP takes your creative passions to the next level. You will learn how to write, recite, and transform your original work, as well as collaborate with a team to stage a showing for friends and family. You will work with some of the region’s best performing writers including comedian Mandy Nolan, musician Mitch King, and Poets Out Loud director Sarah Temporal.

Over 3 days, we will explore different styles of performed writing, from poetry to hip-hop, team slam to monologues, storytelling, comedy, and more. Learn enhanced communication through literary devices, rhythm and flow, and intentional use of voice and body. Find your tribe of like-minded creatives to develop and extend your practice together. Participants are provided a safe and supportive space to articulate their perspectives and experiences, transforming them into powerful poetry or spoken-word.

SLAM CAMP is open to anyone aged 12-18 with an interest in creative writing or performance, no experience needed. Best of all it’s FREE!  Registration essential as places are limited.
